With today’s technology, we are still using a product that was discovered by chance over 10,000 years ago. The term comes from the French vin aigre meaning sour wine. That is exactly how it was discovered: a casket of wine gone past its time.
Specialty or Flavoured vinegars are formulated or flavoured to provide a special or unusual taste when added to foods. There are also herbal vinegars and fruit vinegars. Raspberry vinegars create a sweetened vinegar with a sour sweet taste.
White wine vinegar is the aged and filtered product obtained through the acetous fermentation of a single or selected blend of white wines. The taste is distinctly acidic and the aroma reminiscent of the wine from which it comes.
